CIPP Pipe Lining & Epoxy Coating Across the Bay Area

Not every damaged sewer line needs to be dug up and replaced. Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining creates a new, seamless pipe inside your old one — a structural liner that seals cracks, stops root intrusion, and restores flow with minimal excavation. The Otter Squad cameras the line first to confirm lining is the right method, then gives you a firm written bid before any work begins. We are a family-owned, union contractor licensed C-36 and C-42 under CSLB #1053855, serving all nine Bay Area counties. Clear Lines or You Don't Pay a Dime.

Clear Lines or You Don't Pay a Dime. If we can't clear your blocked line using our standard drain clearing procedure, you don't pay for the attempt.

When Lining Makes Sense

  • Cracked or offset joints with root intrusion
  • Infiltration inflow raising sewer bills
  • Lines under driveways, landscaping, or buildings you don't want to excavate
  • Aging cast-iron or clay lateral still structurally round
  • Commercial and municipal lines where digging is disruptive
  • Camera-verified before and after

How CIPP Lining Works

CIPP, cured-in-place pipe, is the trenchless option facilities managers and homeowners ask about most, because it works without opening the ground. The method is standardized in North America under ASTM F1216 and runs on diameters from roughly 2 to 110 inches, covering everything from a residential lateral to a sanitary-district collector main.

A resin-saturated liner is inserted through an existing access point — a cleanout or a manhole — inflated against the old pipe wall, and cured into a new pipe within the old one. The result is a jointless structural liner that seals cracks, stops root intrusion at the joints, and restores flow without a continuous trench. Because it works through an existing access point, lining can be the least disruptive trenchless option of all — no pits, no burst, no dig. Our pipe bursting vs. pipe lining guide covers where lining fits and where it does not.

When Lining Is the Right Method

Lining is not a cure-all. The camera decides. These are the situations where it usually wins.

  • The line is cracked, root-invaded, or leaking at the joints but still mostly round and structurally sound.
  • The sewer run goes under a driveway, building, or landscaping you do not want to excavate.
  • An existing cleanout or manhole gives access, so lining can avoid pits entirely.
  • Infiltration inflow is raising sewer bills and the line needs sealing, not replacement.
  • A commercial or municipal line where digging would shut down a business or close a street.

How a CIPP Lining Job Runs

Every lining job runs in the same order, and no number is committed before the camera has been down the line.

  1. 1

    Camera inspection and cleaning.

We camera the full line to confirm it is a lining candidate — round enough and structurally sound — then clean it so the liner bonds to the pipe wall.

  2. 2

    Firm written bid

before any work starts, for the full scope, with no add-ons mid-job.

  3. 3

    Permits.

Lining needs a city or district plumbing permit. We pull it for your address.

  4. 4

    Insert and cure the liner.

We insert the resin-saturated liner through an existing access point, inflate it against the old pipe wall, and cure it into a new jointless pipe within the old one.

  5. 5

    Final camera confirmation

so you see the finished line clear end to end, plus the required jurisdiction inspection under the permit.

What Affects the Cost of CIPP Lining

Lining is bid per job. What we promise is a free assessment, a camera-verified diagnosis, and one firm written bid before any work begins. These are the factors that move the number.

  • •Length and diameter of the run being lined.
  • •Condition of the existing pipe — lining needs a round, cleanable host pipe.
  • •Number and location of access points, and whether an existing cleanout or manhole can be reused.
  • •Whether the line is residential, commercial, or municipal, which changes the liner spec.
  • •Permit and inspection fees for the governing city or district.
  • •Restoration cost avoided — preserving a driveway, building, or street is what lining saves you.

Owner, The Otter Squad · C-36 & C-42 #1053855

I am Alfredo Ortiz, and I have spent more than 30 years in sewer and drain lines. The Otter Squad is my family's company, Latino-owned, licensed under CSLB #1053855 for C-36 plumbing and C-42 sanitation, and staffed by union, UA-trained crews. CIPP lining is the tool I reach for when the line is cracked but still round — and the camera tells me that before I recommend it. If the line is collapsed, bursting or a dig is the honest answer, and I will say so. Call me any time, day or night, at (925) 397-2271.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently Asked Questions

CIPP lining installs a new liner inside the existing pipe — best for pipes that are cracked or root-invaded but still mostly round. Pipe bursting fractures the old pipe and pulls a new pipe through — better for collapsed or badly deformed lines.
